Graduate Students
Graduate students at TU enjoy a dynamic learning environment that advances their intellectual and personal development and prepare for a rewarding career.
Requirements for Graduate Admission to the University:
- Complete the Admission Application.
- A detailed résumé.
- A personal statement of career and educational objectives (not to exceed two pages).
- Official transcripts from the institution where you earned your bachelor’s degree and graduate schools you have attended. These can be ordered online or directly through your institution. All candidates for Graduate Admission must hold a Bachelor’s degree and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0. Official transcripts showing ‘in progress courses’ will need to be followed with a final transcript in order for a student to be fully admitted and for financial aid to be processed.
- Three professional or academic references. (Graduate Reference Form).

+ Clinical Mental Health and Clinical Counseling
This program is available to all individuals with an earned bachelor’s degree who meet admission criteria. Specialties are available in Alcohol and Addictions and School Counseling.
+ Masters in Business Administration (MBA)
Students with an earned bachelor’s degree in a major other than business are required to complete BUS 205 Introduction to Business and Entrepreneurship as a prerequisite.
+ RN-MSN and RN-MSN/MBA Admission
- Candidates must be a graduate of an associate degree (ADN) or diploma (RN) program in Nursing.
- Candidates must hold a current unencumbered RN license or obtain RN licensure within six months or graduation from an ADN or diploma nursing program.
- Candidates must possess basic computer skills proficiency (Microsoft Word, email, attachments).
- Candidates must complete an undergraduate introductory Statistics course and English 102 or equivalent prior to enrollment.
- Additional MBA workshops may be required prior to enrollment in MBA courses.
+ MSN and MSN-MBA Admission
- Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program OR hold a BA or BS in a field other than nursing. Additional “bridge” courses in baccalaureate upper division nursing may be required if the undergraduate degree is not in Nursing.
- Candidates must hold a current unencumbered RN license.
- Candidates must have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Candidates must provide evidence of completion of an undergraduate statistics course completed within five years to date of enrollment to Thomas University.
- Candidates to the MSN/MBA program must meet all requirements for admission for both programs.
- MSN/MBA candidates may be required to complete additional work prior to enrollment in MBA courses.
+ MEd Admission
Candidates must hold a clear and renewable teaching certificate in at least one teaching field, or hold a non-renewable certificate and be enrolled in a state approved alternative certification program.
+ Master of Arts in Teaching Admission
In addition to the above criteria for graduate programs, individuals seeking admission to the Master of Arts in Teaching (Elementary Education or Pedagogy) need to complete the

+ EdS Admission
- Candidates must hold a master’s degree in a relevant field from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Candidates must possess a Georgia professional T-4 or higher certificate and have 3 years teaching experience.
- Candidates must submit a mentor/assurance form from their school district superintendent or designee as evidence of a school-based program mentor who will serve on the Candidate Support Team throughout the program.
+ Special Standing Students
Students who wish to enroll in select graduate courses but are not pursuing a degree or graduate certificate may apply as a Special Standing Student. They may take up to 6 credits as a Special Standing Student. Credit earned in the graduate courses may apply toward a graduate certificate or graduate degree program should the student later decide to apply and is admitted.
Special Standing Admission requirements
- Complete the Admission Application.
- Pay the $50 non-refundable application fee.
- Transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate schools attended, to be forwarded directly to the Office of Admission at Thomas University.
- Minimum GPA required by program.
- A personal statement of career and educational objectives (not to exceed two pages).
