Research Professor of African American History
DESCRIPTION:
Thomas University is seeking a research professor to capture and document the lives and accomplishments of Thomas County’s African American residents between the years of 1900-1970. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in African American History with a concentration in public history and specializations in oral history and/or archival sciences (ABD may be considered). Although there is no classroom teaching associated with the position, the research professor will both oversee and direct a small team of students who will serve as research assistants. Successful candidates will have outstanding interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of key stakeholders.
This is a three-year grant funded position that will begin on June 2, 2022. Publications that provide an intellectually honest, holistic, picture of the people who contributed to the success of Thomas County are the expected outcome of the research.
