The major in Interdisciplinary Studies program is a flexible course of study that explores the humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences and leads to the completion of a Bachelor of Science. It is an ideal program for students who want to design much of their program of study, and for transfer students because it allows for the majority of transfer credits to be applied toward the degree.
The IDS degree requires an Interdisciplinary Core of 21 credit hours, in addition to a focus of study that must include at least five courses and 15 credit hours with the same prefix, or an approved minor, and the Senior Thesis.
Open electives of 21 hours can be selected to achieve a minor in various disciplines or to continue advanced study in the focus of study area. The IDS degree provides students an opportunity to pursue a wide range of intellectual interests through largely self-determined areas of study.
