Dean of Students

Job Summary 

The Dean of Students is in charge of overseeing daily operations for the department of Student Life. Duties include providing support for students: addressing student housing, campus security, Cleary Act compliance, University Chaplaincy, residential dining services, Coordinate university alcohol prevention and sexual abuse prevention efforts for all new students, shuttle services, new student orientation, on-campus activities as they relate specifically to Student Life, and student behavior, coordinate/collaborate with other department leaders within the University to ensure and easy and smooth matriculation to the university. 

Reports to: Vice President for Student Life 

Position Status: Full-Time, exempt position, 40-hour work week 

RESPONSIBILITIES /DUTIES: 

Include but are not limited to the following: 

· Responsible for programmatic oversight and coordination of the following units: Housing and Residential Life, Residential Dining Services, Student Activities, New Student Orientation, and Campus Security, Student Spiritual Development, and Shuttle Service 

· Partner effectively with faculty and staff to develop opportunities for experiential learning in Student Life 

· Provide efficient and effective services that support the University mission 

· Coordinate university alcohol prevention and sexual abuse prevention efforts for all new students 

· Perform other job related duties as assigned. 

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: 

· Familiarity with and support of the goals, vision and ethos of student-centered education 

· Demonstrated progressive responsibilities in Student Life, or relevant experience in a related department or discipline 

· Excellent written and oral communication skills are required for interaction with variety of stakeholders (students, parents, faculty, et. al.) and presentations 

· Working knowledge/familiarity with Title IX regulations and requirements 

· Proven ability to provide effective oversight and management in a changing educational environment 

· Ability to develop, implement and evaluate programs and projects 

· Working knowledge of related information systems and ability to evaluate system’s needs using these information systems in program analysis and evaluation 

· Demonstrated qualities of self-motivation, good judgment, emotional maturity, self-confidence, fairness, creativity and confidentiality/discretion 

PREFERRED EDUCATION 

· Master’s degree required, Doctorate preferred
